ALMOST 1,500 runners raced through Tatton Park for the 10th Tatton Yule Yomp.

This year the 3K race for youngsters was reinstated, attracting almost 100 children aged six to 16.

Runners raced through the park from the Knutsford Gate and emerged onto Mereheath Lane for the final mile to the finish outside Egerton Youth Club.

The organising team belongs to Cheshire Hash House Harriers, organising the first race in 2009 to raise funds for local charities.

In the nine races more than £150,000 has been given to charities including East Cheshire Hospice, David Lewis at Warford, Carers Trust 4 All and smaller groups including Knutsford Scouts.

This year the Knutsford Tri Club Junior Section joined the team to help organise the children’s 3K race, which it is hoped will continue in future years.

Roberts Bakery has been involved as the main sponsor for many years, providing bread and cakes for the goody bags.

This year Sheldons of Knutsford brought one of its milk floats to the finish line, loaded with bottled water and milk, which they helped give out to the runners.

It is hoped the race will have raised further funds which can be given to the charities again.

The Cheshire Hash House Harriers thanked all the volunteers who came along and helped over the race weekend, and the sponsors, whose support is important in the organisers being able to help charities each year.
