THE town mayor of Winsford Cllr Gina Lewis has chosen the themes of peace and hope for her Christmas message.
She said: The two charities I am supporting are the Royal British Legion and the Alzheimer’s Society, two organisations who, through their work, bring peace and hope to thousands of people.
"I have seen during my year and as a councillor that there are hundreds of people who devote their time and energy to supporting others for whom there is little peace and even less hope.
"This Christmas I would appeal to all in our community of Winsford to take a few moments and remember ‘the reason for the season’…. peace and goodwill to all.
"Christ, born as a helpless baby, grew into the man who gives peace and hope to all people.
"He came to die on a cross, not just for Christmas. He gave his life that we might have a better future. I know not everybody will believe this but the evidence is in the best selling book in the world.
"Think this Christmas of those you know who are struggling, emotionally, physically and financially. Spare a few moments to support them in whatever way you are able, a smile, a hug mean more than a sackful of presents.
"I would like to thank all those who give their time, love and support to others this Christmas. May you have a blessed Christmas, may it be peaceful and full of hope.
"I wish every body a very happy Christmas and a prosperous new year."
