FREE parking will be available on Wednesdays leading up to Christmas.
Cheshire West and Chester Council is opening up the Watermans car park, in Venables Road, to motorists one day a week free of charge.
Meanwhile, Chester's park and ride service will be extended for festive shopping, and free Wednesday parking will be on offer in Ellesmere Port.
Cllr Karen Shore, CWAC cabinet member for environment said: “We’re delighted to be able to provide these travel and parking arrangements for residents and visitors, during the busy run up to Christmas.
“It can be a hectic time for everyone but free parking at these locations will help keep shopping trip costs down and using our park and ride services takes away the hassle of trying to find a parking space in Chester city centre.”
Parking charges were introduced in Northwich town centre car parks at the end of November, starting at 20p for up to two hours. Barons Quay remains free for four hours.
