WORK on a 190,000 sq ft industrial development in Middlewich is set to begin in January, it has been revealed.

The large development named MA6NITUDE (formerly Midpoint 18), is headed by DBS Pochin - a joint venture between Middlewich construction firm Pochin’s and db symmetry.

The scheme, which received planning approval from Cheshire East Council earlier this year, comprises two single occupancy units.

The larger of the two units, 149,000 sq ft in size, is expected to cater to the wider logistics market, while the smaller unit, at 41,000 sq ft, is intended to service local small and medium-sized enterprise demand.

Developers say that the site will act as a ‘northern hub to an impressive roster of manufacturing and distribution companies, including Wincanton, B&M Retail and Optima Logistics’.

Bob Nicholson, Pochin’s director, said: “A speculative development of this size in a strategically important location is a huge show of confidence in the region.

“Work is now confirmed to begin on site in January 2019, and we’re already underway with preparation works to ensure a smooth delivery schedule come the turn of the year.”

The start of development at Plot 1A marks the first in a three-phase development plan at the 1.75 million sq ft site. In the coming years, MA6NITUDE is anticipated to be an increasingly major asset for distribution companies looking to serve the Northern Powerhouse.

Bob added: “We’ve already had strong interest in both units, which bodes well for securing occupancy and supports our future plans for the growth of the site.

“Through a phased approach to the development of the site, we’re enabling a high degree of flexibility in our planning as it allows us to respond directly to changing market demands.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming new occupiers to MA6NITUDE very soon.”

Work on Plot 1A is expected to reach completion in summer 2019.
