POLICE arrested two suspected drug dealers in Winnington after a chase on foot around the area.

Police stopped a car in Park Road on Friday last week and after chasing the two suspects on foot towards Winnington Park Recreation Centre, before seizing a quantity of Class A drugs.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At approximately 2.45pm on Friday, November 23, officers from Northwich Local Policing unit stopped a silver Vauxhall Astra on Park Road in Winnington.

“On stopping the car, the front seat passenger decamped the vehicle and fled the scene towards Winnington Park Recreation Centre.

“Following a short pursuit on foot, officers arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Officers also recovered a quantity of what are believed to be Class A drugs (Cocaine).

“The driver of the vehicle, 42-year-old woman from Leasowe was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.”

The 22-year-old man was subsequently charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Saturday where he was remanded in custody.

He is next due to appear at Chester Crown Court on Friday 21 December.

The 42-year-old woman has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
