THE body of a man was found in the River Weaver at Barons Quay at the weekend.
Police officers were alerted to the discovery late on Sunday morning. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "At around 11am on Sunday, November 18 officers were called to reports of a body in the River Weaver, adjacent to Barons Quay, Northwich.
"Formal identification has now taken place and the body is that of a 56-year-old local man.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and there is not believed to be any third party involvement.
"A full case file will now be prepared for the coroner."
