THIS 1975 photograph sent in by Star reader Roy Green shows a group of friends at the Masons Arms, Billinge – including former ABA boxing champion and landlord of the Wheatsheaf and Travellers Rest Hotel in Crab Street Bill Connor.
The picture shows the final of the darts knockout competition between the hot favourites The Elephant, Thatto Heath and The Travellers Rest. This image, taken at half time, shows the Travellers already winning at 5-0. Their final score was 7-2.
