VETERANS will join forces with residents and civic dignitaries to pay tribute to the fallen at the annual service of remembrance and parade in Winsford town centre on Sunday.

This year's event will be mark 100 years since the Armistice of the First World War.

The names of the 247 men from Winsford who lost their lives in the Great War will be read out during the service led by Rev Tim Hanson, chaplain to town mayor Cllr Gina Lewis.

The parade will assemble on the drive to Wyvern House council offices from 10.15am and will be led by the Salvation Army band.

It will proceed along The Drumber, Dingle Lane, High Street and Dene Drive to the town centre through the side entrances to Fountain Court.

The service itself will begin at approximately 10.45am.

Following the act of remembrance, deputy Lord Lieutenant Susan Proctor will lay a wreath on behalf of the Queen.

Town Mayor Cllr Gina Lewis and her consort Denis Lewis will then place wreaths on the war memorial.

Town clerk Mark Bailey will lay a wreath on the Boer War memorial in memory of the Winsford men and women who gave their lives for their country.

At the end of the service the civic party will take leave to receive the march past on Dene Drive.
