THE Middlewich Heritage Trust has gotten to the voting stage of the Tesco ‘Bags for Help’ scheme.
The trust is hoping to be able to build a First World War remembrance garden in Brooks Lane and to repair the cenotaph there.
‘Bags for Help’ is a community grant scheme where the money raised from carrier bag sales is used to fund community projects.
Shoppers receive a token which they can use to vote for one of three community projects. The winner receives up to £4,000, second place received £2,000 and the third place received £1,000.
The trust is hoping to have the remembrance garden ready by July 2019, to coincide with the centenary of the UK wide peace celebrations.
