A POIGNANT war diary is on loan to Winsford Library from Crosshatch Gallery and Winsford History Society.
It is one of a series of events to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War at libraries across the borough organised by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Excerpts from Private Frederick Shaw’s Gallipoli campaign diary, not the original one, can be read.
Private Shaw was based with the Royal Marine Light Infantry during the First World War and his name is inscribed on Winsford’s War Memorial.
The extracts will be on display until the middle of November.
