HUNDREDS of eager shoppers flocked to Barons Quay this morning for the long-awaited opening of H&M.

Queues began to form at 9am – two hours before the official 11am opening, when the new store’s staff treated customers to a flash mob dance and confetti cannons.

A live DJ put on a soundtrack as Cheshire West and Chester Council cabinet member Cllr Brian Clarke cut the ribbon.

All those in the queue received a 25 per cent discount for the day, and goody bags were handed out to the early birds.

The store is located between Asda and Odeon, close to the new River Park.

Toni Galli, H&M’s country manager for UK and Ireland, said: “H&M are delighted to be opening a new store in Baron Quays, Northwich.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the brand to expand and bring our fantastic fashion offering to new customers at this location.”

H&M is also giving away a £100 voucher to celebrate the launch.
