POLICE have launched an investigation after arsonists set fire to a garage in Northwich.

Firefighters from Northwich and Lymm were called to the fire in Balmoral Avenue at 7.05pm yesterday, where they found the garage to be ‘well alight’.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: “Firefighters, including one wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

“They then emptied the garage to make sure that the fire had not spread and that the outbuilding was safe.

“Firefighters were in attendance for around two hours. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.”

Anyone with information about the incident should call Cheshire Police on 101, give the details via cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
