A MAN'S 'sanctuary', destroyed in a fire, has been rebuilt thanks to kind community donations.
In July, the Guardian reported that Ethel Mair and her partner Karl, who live in Lostock Gralam, had to have their conservatory taken down after it was deemed unsafe by Cheshire West and Chester Council following a fire.
Brenda Mair, Ethel’s sister-in-law, launched a fundraiser to repair the damage, explaining that Karl – who suffers from 'severe mental illness' – had been left bewildered and distressed by the loss.
Donations flooded in from organisations including the Northwich Round Table, Rotary Club of Northwich, Northwich RAOB, The Groom Room and Flatpacks4all.
Topped up by a contribution from Brenda and her husband, the funds raised meant a new lean-to conservatory could be built at the home.
