A MUM who has baked cakes for stars and celebrities is making 100 themed vanilla cupcakes for judges who are making a special visit to Northwich.

Lisa Russett, who has just opened Pretty Princess Cakes and Bakes in the town centre, has pledged her support for the Business Improvement District (BID) ahead of the Great British High Street Awards judging day on Thursday.

Mum-of-two Lisa, 39, said: “It’s very exciting and it’s nice to mutually support each other in the town.

“I’ve also been encouraging my customers to vote for Northwich in the competition by posting on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.”

Lisa has been overwhelmed by support from the local community since launching her new business on Post Office Place.

She said: “Lots of people have been in wishing me well and other business owners and shop workers have popped in to introduce themselves and try some of our treats.

“The atmosphere has been really welcoming and positive.”

Lisa has been impressed with the amount of events and activities that take place in Northwich to encourage people to visit the town.

She said: “We stayed open until 9:30pm on Saturday for the Now Northwich festival and the town was buzzing.

“I can’t wait for the Christmas Extravaganza in November. We came last year and had a great time so it will be great to actually be involved this time round.”

While event organisers the Northwich BID have one eye on Christmas, their immediate attentions are focused on Thursday when the town will be judged in the Rising Star Award 2018 category.

Northwich BID officer Mark Henshaw has been blown away by the support the town has already received from businesses and the public.

He said:“It’s been amazing to see businesses decorating their shops ahead of the vote and getting involved in the campaign by interacting on social media and with their customers. I’ve seen plenty of support online too – hopefully it continues!”
