THE second Northwich Comic Con of the year was another success as people of all ages flocked to see their favourite characters and props from film and television.

The event took place in Northwich Memorial Court on Saturday, October 6 and Steve Howard, event organiser, believed the event was another success.

Steve said: “We do two of these events a year in Northwich and we try to cover different themes.

“The event we held in April was more tailored towards video games with the retro game area which was very popular.

“This time the focus was on super heroes and sci fi.”

Steve managed to organise appearances from iconic vehicles and characters from cinema and TV such as Kitty from Night Rider, Lightning McQueen, the A-Team van and the TARDIS from Doctor Who.

Steve was delighted with all of the stalls and exhibitions but it was clear which props and characters were the most frequently visited.

Steve said: “Baymax, Pikachu and Lightning McQueen were extremely popular. I think every child there got a picture with Baymax.

“Boo’s scare door from Monsters Inc and the Joker cage are always popular for people wanting to take photographs as well.

“Numbers were a little bit down this time but I think that will have been down to the Chester Comic Con taking place recently as well as the giants in Liverpool, there’s not a lot we could do about that.

“Whenever organising events like this there is so much we need to consider like whether there is a big football match on or a big event nearby.

“The exhibitions were still very popular and the stall holders all really enjoyed themselves so the day was still a big success.”

Steve is now in the early processes of organising the next comic con event and the theme this time will be ‘Anime Flavour’.

He is currently organising guests from the colourful world of Japanese animation.

The next comic con is scheduled to take place on April 6 2019.
