MIDDLEWICH Town celebrated a successful seven days as they collected maximum points from both games.

Wednesday saw them go 1-0 down in the first minute when Witton Albion Reserves' Ant Davis found the net straight from a corner, but first half goals from Joey Roberts, Graham Kay and Mike Brandon saw them turn things around.

After the break Jon Edwards made it 4-1, Mike Brandon bagged twice to secure his treble while new signing Adam Davenport also scored twice to seal an 8-1 win.

Terry Murphy's double winners followed this up with a 5-1 drubbing of Stalybridge Celtic Reserves on Saturday, who had celebrated their first win in midweek when they beat Woodley 4-0.

Greenalls got their week off to a flying start when goals from Ben Slater, Rob Hanley and Steve Jupp saw them beat Rylands 3-0, while Fergus Morris and Mark Hughes ensured they secured a 2-0 victory over Witton.

A James Thomas equaliser was not enough for Barnton on Tuesday as they went down 3-1 at Knutsford, but they recovered to beat Trafford Reserves 2-1 on Saturday.

Mike Sandbach put Barnton ahead in the 38th minute before Trafford pulled things level just after the hour mark.

Sandbach later latched on to a long ball by Danny Osbourne to claim his second of the game.

Crosfields inflicted Pilkington's first defeat of the season on Tuesday as they sneaked a 1-0 win courtesy of Stuart Wellstead's solitary strike 15 minutes from time, while Curzon Ashton Reserves shared the points with Trafford.

Poynton's misery continued as two defeats this week left them still waiting for their first point of the season.

Simon Yates' penalty saw them go a goal down to Gamesley, only for this Poynton to level four minutes later.

Gareth Newton's chip shot restored Gamesley's advantage and sealed the points.

Garswood United ran out 3-0 winners against Poynton at the weekend.

Styal sit happily in third place after a John Thornton goal in the midweek derby against Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads saw them finish 1-0 winners, while goals from Dave Graham and Brian Matthews ensured Styal took maximum points from their Saturday fixture against Gamesley.

Linotype bounced back from their mid week defeat as John Murphy and Steve Marfleet both scored in their 2-1 win over Knutsford.

Curzon Ashton Reserves remain the only unbeaten side in division one as they stormed to a 3-1 victory over Crosfields.

Adam Bukkey gave Curzon the lead on 28th minutes, before Nathan Finnigan doubled their tally after the interval.

Crosfields pulled one back when Lee Boardman scored from the penalty spot in the 80th minute but, despite piling on the pressure, the equaliser would not come and Jerome Steele killed the game on his Curzon debut.
