OWNERS of the Liquid Lounge have been forced to complete the work on the ‘eyesore’ building after council intervention.

Cllr Mike Baynham met with Antoinette Sandbach MP to discuss what can be done about the building which has been deemed as an eyesore.

The councillor for Winsford Over and Verdin said: “We have been working on this for many months now and it is great to see that we are finally moving in the right direction with this.

“All that we can hope for now is that the work can be done quickly and that the land owners are compliant with the council.”

The Liquid Lounge building in New Road has sat empty for more than 10 years and a devastating fire gutted the inside of the former club back in 2013.

It has remained untouched ever since.

Antoinette Sandbach MP said: “Councillor Baynham and I have been pushing for Cheshire West and Chester Council to take action to rectify the problem and it is great that such an eyesore will finally get tidied up, and hopefully with the other redevelopment going on across Winsford something more will be done in future years.”

The Eddisbury MP wrote to Cheshire West and Chester Council and received a response from the deputy chief executive of place, Charlie Seward, saying that an untidy land notice has been issued to the owners

If the owners do not comply the onus will fall on the council to do the work however, Cllr Baynham assures that the owners will be charged and the taxpayer shall not foot the bill.
