NORTH West in Bloom judges have visited Northwich to assess the town’s floral displays.

Judges for the RHS-run competition followed a planned route across town on Monday, August 6, to see the Northwich in Bloom team’s work.

Set up in October by the Northwich BID, the in bloom team has worked tirelessly to maintain a splash of colour about town ahead of the judges’ visit.

With help from schools and volunteers along the way, the team has installed new displays at various sites such as River Park and the war memorial.

Town centre businesses are also on board, decorating shop fronts, gardens, bars and shopping areas in a bid to win the ‘Best Dressed Business’ competition.

BID Manager Jane Hough said: “The town has developed so much over the past couple of years but the hard work has really shone this summer.

“Our goal is to create an environment where floral displays, conservation and ecological impact, as well as public engagement, interest and participation is at the heart of everything we do.

“I want to say a huge thank you to all of the organisations and community groups that have played an integral part in making Northwich ‘bloom’ – we couldn’t have done it without them.”

Despite this year marking its debut entry, the town is nonetheless gunning for gold from the RHS judges.

CRS Consultants were out and about with the Northwich BID team recently, dead-heading flowers to ensure the flower baskets are in tip top condition before judging day.

Jane added: “Judging day doesn’t mark the end of the road though as the Northwich in Bloom group has a wealth of ideas and plans for the future.”

The BID team also arranged some summer activities to coincide with the judge’s visit on Monday, including performances from Frooj and Fred, Micky Toons, and Madame Zucchini.

There’s still time to vote for the best decorated business, from Crafty Stitches, St Luke’s Hospice, Bella Boutique, CRS Consultants, Witton Chimes, Penny Black, the Salty Dog, Northwich Art Shop, Macouti, Gilroy Wilson Shoes, Kanya Café & Bistro, Salthouse NW, Curtain Magic, House of Quirk, The Wow Shop and Nigel Bailey Hair.
