THE latest addition to Barons Quay is now open, providing a perfect spot to enjoy the ongoing heatwave.

River Park opened to the public last week, after the finishing touches were planted as part of the Northwich in Bloom initiative.

Operations manager at Barons Quay, Lina Higuita, said: "We are proud to announce the opening of River Park

"We appreciate the hard work that Grozone, The BID and the children at Victoria Road School put in to transform River Park at Barons Quay as it opened.

"It was a wonderful day where the sun was shining and the community came together as part of the Northwich in Bloom initiative.

"We’re so pleased with the results and we’re excited that the community can now enjoy the results in time for the heatwave over the summer months."

Throughout the day on Friday, June 29, wildflowers were spread across River Park by volunteers at Grozone and Victoria Road School, with many in the community coming along to watch.

The wildflowers were a mixture of common poppy, cornflower, corn cockle and corn marigold.

Cheshire West and Chester Council also purchased a number of planters supplied by Northwich Town Council to bring extra colour to the main retail area and complement the existing live green wall which will also be included in the Northwich in Bloom competition.
