FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a fire in the open in Winnington Street.
Police were in attendance to deal with the traffic as firefighters worked at the scene.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "At around 9.30am firefighters were called to a report of a fire in Winnington Street, Northwich.
"On arrival the crew discovered that it was a case of controlled burning.
"Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire in the open and then damped the area down to make it safe.
"Police were in attendance to deal with traffic control on a congested road as firefighters worked at the scene.
"Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour-and-a-half."
