A COUNCIL surgery is set to return to the area thanks to a partnership between ward members and a Leftwich cafe.
Cheshire West and Chester Council and Northwich Town Council representatives are preparing to launch a monthly surgery-type drop-in session to allow residents to share their views and concerns with elected members.
The inaugural meetings will be held at the end of September, after the council’s summer recess, at Mo’s Cafe on Leftwich.
Cllr Gaynor Sinar, CWAC member for Davenham and Moulton – encompassing Leftwich and Kingsmead – had the idea for the ‘community hub’, and is invited residents to contact her with suggestions and discussion points ahead of the launch.
She said: “I have spoken to the owners of Mo’s Cafe and they are willing to use their premises out of hours as the community hub.
“Can all interested please contact me saying how they want to be involved and their priorities.
“The first step will be a joint Cheshire West Council and Northwich Town Council monthly surgery.
“I will be making sure [Mo’s] get something to cover costs for opening so it’s a win-win situation, supporting the community and a small business.”
The first session will take place on Wednesday, September 26 and 7pm, followed by another that Saturday, September 29, at 4pm.
Further meetings will follow in the last weeks of October and November, before the concept is reviewed ahead of a full programme being put in place.
