ALMOST 100 runners dusted off their trainers to take part in Moulton’s famous Pound the Bounds run at the weekend.

Competitors from across all age groups – some in fancy dress – lit up the village on Sunday morning as they took on the 4.2-mile course around the Moulton boundary.

Revived last year after a lengthy break, the race this year attracted a record number of young runners and saw new fastest times recorded.

Alex Ehlen, who helped organise the event within her roles with Moulton Events Committee and Moulton Runners, thanked the community for helping boost the event again.

She said: “It went really well - 96 people turned out in the sunshine to run and walk Pound the Bounds, including a record number of young runners.

“It was great to see such a good turnout of runners and spectators.

“The Moulton Events Committee would like to thank all the volunteers from the village who helped to make the event possible, as well as The Lion for letting us use the premises as a base for the registration.”

Matt Rollinson won the gents section for the second year running, just missing out on the course record of 23.1 minutes set by Bernie Jones in 2005.

New ladies and girls under-16 records were set, as well as in the 60-plus and fancy dress categories.
