POST office services have been withdrawn from Lostock Gralam until further notice from today, Friday.

The provision had moved to Bargain Booze, in Manchester Road, from across the street in 2014, as part of the Post Office's ongoing branch modernisation scheme.

But today, Friday, customers were greeted with the news that the post office would no longer be available at the store.

The Post Office says the move is temporary.

A spokesman said: “Following the resignation of the Postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use, Lostock Gralam Post Office will unfortunately temporarily close from today.

“We are really sorry to our customers for this sudden closure, as we know how important Post Office services to communities, and we would like to assure customers that we are currently exploring all the options available which will enable us to reinstate a local Post Office service for customers as soon as possible.

"In the meantime, any customers wishing to access Post Office services may do so from any convenient Post Office branch, including Wincham Park Post Office in Linnards Lane, and Plumley Post Office, Plumley Moor Road.”
