WINNINGTON Park RFC spectators are set to benefit from a new balcony at the Burrows Lane clubhouse, after plans for its construction were approved.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has approved the club’s application to build the ‘modest’ first-floor balcony in the centre of the clubhouse’s pitch-facing northern side.
Planning permission for a larger structure – with extra training facilities below – has expired after a rise in construction costs made the project unachievable.
The planning application argued that the balcony would allow for a better view for spectators, as well as a potential VIP space for sponsored game.
It would also, the club said, provide shelter to ground-level spectators in inclement weather.
Patio doors will replace windows for balcony access.
