'TWO women have swam with sharks to raise money for Great Budworth Primary School.

Nealey West and Claire Rowe took on the challenge on Wednesday, May 2, and fundraising is nothing new to them.

Speaking to The Guardian before the event, Nealey said: “We’re always thinking of new simple ways to raise money for the children.

“At the beginning of May we will be taking the plunge, literally, by coming face to face with the ocean's most feared predators, sharks and doing a sponsored dive at the Blue planet aquarium.

“We will be entering the home of Wilma and Flare amongst other sand tiger sharks and saying a big hello from all the children at Great Budworth school and all of our supporters.

“The Blue Planet has very generously let us do our dive free of charge to help us with our fundraising meaning every penny raised will go towards buying outdoor play equipment and an outdoor building that the children can go to read and relax.”

Nealey and Claire will be doing all they can to raise as much money for the school as possible.

Nealey said: “We will be in the playground with our sponsor forms most days for those at school and we have also set up a GoFundMe page to make it even easier for those that would like to donate to this unique event.”

“Neither of us have done anything like this before or have even had a taste of scuba diving so it’s going to be an interesting challenge to say the least.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to the Blue Planet for making this happen, local businesses which have offered to sponsor us and everyone else for your support.”
