After the Guardian published last week that young apprentices at Cheshire Fire Service were travelling to Kathmandu to help build a classroom, Cheshire Fire Service has confirmed its apprentices are safe and well in Nepal.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We would like to reassure everyone that our apprentices out in Nepal are safe and well and have not been affected today by the incident at Kathmandu Airport.
"We are not sure yet whether they will be able to fly out of the airport tomorrow, but will keep you posted."
