A MANCHESTER music legend is set to perform a DJ set in Northwich to raise funds for a sensory play area in mid Cheshire.
Winnington Park Recreational Club will welcome Inspiral Carpets keyboard player Clint Boon through its doors on Friday, January 26.
The XS Manchester radio presenter will host an indie disco to raise money for Tiny Steps, a charity raising money towards a sensory play area and social café for children with additional needs in Northwich and Winsford.
Unique music memorabilia will also be up for auction on the night – including a Stone Roses poster signed by Ian Brown, a guitar signed by Shed Seven, and a canvas signed by Clint Boon – with proceeds going towards Tiny Steps.
Scott Burstow, who is organising the event, told the Guardian: “I know Clint because he’s helped us out for Tiny Steps in the past, he has always been more than happy to get involved.
“The charity has been going for more than four years now and it is probably about 12 months away from reaching its goal.”
Tiny Steps was set up by husband and wife Martin and Laura Clifton, from Davenham, and inspired by their daughter Connie, who was diagnosed with West Syndrome at eight months old after choking weeks after she was born.
The sensory play area, which would give children with additional needs a space to explore, is the main goal for the charity.
DJ Phil O’Driscoll will also play a set on the night, with the best of Northern Soul, Motown and psychedelia.
Doors open at 7.30pm and the event runs until midnight. Tickets cost £12 and availability is limited.
Search for ‘Tiny Steps’ on Facebook for tickets, or call Scott on 07814 426014.
