STAFF and sixth form students from St Nicholas Catholic High School locked horns for a charity Bake Off competition.
It was the first time sixth form pupils had got involved with the annual staff event, and it is safe to say they rose to the challenge.
Bakes from the staff ranged from a zingy lemon drizzle with poppy seeds, to chocolate and beetroot cake, and stem ginger cookies.
The sixth form cooked up a storm with lighter-than-air Victoria sponge, delightfully regular melting moments, and stunningly gunky chocolate brownies.
A rather unusual entry this year was an ‘IKEA Cake’, where ingredients presented charmingly in a tin to be taken away and made at home.
The overall winner was Jessica Leigh who impressed judges with her stunning unicorn cake.
Money raised on the day went to Macmillan Cancer Support. Students also students pay for the privilege of wearing fancy dress, with proceeds going to the ‘Make a Wish’ Foundation.
