A LOST envelope of cash belonging to Weaverham Cricket Club was returned after a kind-hearted mum took to Facebook to seek out its owner.

Terri Ashworth, 29, from Weaverham, found the envelope as she was walking near the cricket club with with her two young children.

The envelope contained £340 which was Ticket Money that had been paid by members for the WCC Summer Ball happening that night.

She said: “I noticed a white envelope next to the bin and picked it up as I thought somebody had attempted to put it in but missed.

“But I noticed the envelope was sealed and heavy so I opened it and saw the money.

“When I got home I posted on Facebook and within minutes I’d had a phone call letting me know who the money belonged to.”

Lisa Lightfoot, wife of Jon Lightfoot, junior development officer at the club, lost the envelope earlier that day.

Jon said he and Lisa tried to retrace her steps to find the cash, but was unable to trace it.

“Lisa was absolutely devastated at this point and went home very upset,” Jon said.

Thankfully he discovered through Facebook shortly after that the money had been found.

Jon said: “I spoke to Terri who confirmed she had the money and along with her partner and baby came to the club to return the envelope.”
