A LOSTOCK Gralam nursing home has been rated ‘Good’ following an inspection from the Care Quality Commission.

HC-One’s Avandale Lodge Nursing Home was inspected on July 6 and 7, 2017, with the subsequent report being published on August 22.

The inspection was unannounced on the first day, but announced on the second.

The report rated the home Good in the five key areas the care regulator assesses, demonstrating that it is: caring, safe, effective, responsive and well-led.

Avandale Lodge provides accommodation for adults who require nursing or personal care and those with a variety of issues including dementia and mental health conditions.

The report particularly praised staff.

The report said: “Staff we spoke with showed a caring attitude towards those in their care.

“One member of staff said they were taught to treat people who used the service like one of their own relatives.

“We saw that people were supported with kindness, patience and compassion.”

The report said inspectors witnessed staff treat residents with ‘dignity and respect’.

The provider displayed that safeguarding policies and procedures are in place to guide practice and staff training records showed that safeguarding training had been delivered to staff.
