A FASHION show has raised almost £2,000 for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young, in memory of a Nantwich woman who passed away from a sudden cardiac arrest.

CRY for Ceri, the memorial fund set up in memory of Ceri Palmer nee Howells, held the show in partnership with White Ribbon Boutique at Malbank School in May.

Ceri, from Wistaston, died in her sleep from young, sudden, cardiac death (YSCD), in March 2014. She was due to graduate with a first class honours degree in drama and theatre studies.

The fashion show was presented by White Ribbon and volunteer models, including YSCD survivor Lucy Smith, diagnosed during a CRY screening session.

Alison Howells, Ceri’s mum, said: "The event included an amazing demonstration of gymnastic hula hooping and live music and entertainment.

“The event was a glowing success and was attended by over 110 guests. We were treated to a great show including some very popular summer outfits, and the event concluded with a grand prize draw including a star prize from Rookery Hall Hotel.”

With £1,888 raised and donations still coming in, enough money has been raised to run two screening days in 2018, where young people aged between 14 and 35 years old are checked for conditions.

Sessions will take place in Crewe in February and June in Nantwich, with plans for a third.
