A NANTWICH gymnasium relaxed its ‘ladies only’ rule last week, but all in the name charity and chocolate.

Gymophobics, on Beam Street, is part of a nationwide group that offers women unique exercise programmes in an environment that encourages fun and fitness for ladies of all ages.

Neil Tinsley, Treasurer of the Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group, was permitted to break the gym rules when he visited the centre to collect chocolate donations ahead of a charity fundraising night at Easter.

Gym owner, Janet Barton, and member Jill Boffey, established a chocolate drop-off station in support of the charity that raises funds for The Christie in Manchester.

Janet said: “I would like to thank all the gym members for their incredible generosity. The chocolate donations came in all shapes and sizes.

“The Nantwich Christie is a local charitable group that is close to many of our hearts. They raise money at so many great events each year, and all the members were delighted to help.

“There is still time to donate by dropping off chocolate treats at the gym before the end of March.”

The Nantwich Christie Support Group gratefully accepted the items donated so far, and the goodies have been added to prize hampers for raffle at the group’s Easter fundraiser.

Chocolate themed items can also be donated at Edward Timpson’s Constituency Office on Victoria Street, Crewe, and at Darlington & Daughter’s on Lancaster Fields, Crewe.

Donations should have a use-by date later than March 31.

The Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group is currently helping raise funds towards the development of a Proton Beam Research Centre at The Christie.
