A STAND-OFF between a large team of police and a man threatening to kill them played out for six hours in Winsford last night.
Officers were sent to an address in Abbotts Way just before 5pm after a 39-year-old man made several calls to the police 101 number.
Police cordoned off the road and a specialist negotiator spent six hours negotiating with the man, who was allegedly brandishing a kitchen knife through the window.
Specialist Taser-trained officers were also at the scene.
Just after 11pm, the man surrendered to police peacefully and was arrested.
Inspector Dave Snasdell said: “Obviously we want to have these types of incidents passed off without any harm to members of the public or officers and that was the case.
“It was an isolated incident and in due process the individual will be dealt with.”
