SOME of Cheshire’s finest young musicians will take centre stage in Northwich this week.

Singer-songwriter Chris Tavener, Sam Lyon and Eddie Ogle will all perform at the Harlequin Theatre on Friday, July 8, from 8pm, for the Northwich Folk Club.

The talented trio have all done support spots for guests at the club over the last year and this time they will perform for an entire evening of music.

Pete Thompson, from Northwich Folk Club, said: “Chris Tavener is a satirical singer-songwriter known for his mischievously witty lyrics, well-crafted song-writing and a vintage sound.

“Originally from Northwich in Cheshire, Chris began writing and producing demo albums at age 17.

“Rather than write about himself, he wrote songs that featured interesting characters or ironic takes on social behaviour.

“Five albums later he recorded his latest studio EP that was promoted alongside a 30-date nationwide tour in ten cities including London, Birmingham and Manchester.”

Also on the night’s bill is 21-year-old singer-songwriter Sam Lyon.

The former Sir John Deane’s College student, who is from Winsford, released her sophomore album, the Bitter Taste of Bliss, in April this year.

Pete said: “Gigging since the age of 13, Sam has played a variety of festivals and music venues all over the UK.

“She set out on her first ever UK tour in August 2015, with Swedish artist, Hildur Höglind, racking up CD sales all over the country, from London to Leeds.

“Eddie Ogle is a talented multi-instrumentalist from Middlewich who is a regular at the club. He always brings us something special when he visits whether it is on guitar, double bass or mandolin.

“He was on stage at the recent Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival and will be appearing at the Amplify Paint it Red event the following day in Northwich.”

Iain Bowley will host the evening.

Tickets are £5 or £4 for members. Under 21s are half price. Tickets can be purchased from
