CREWE Engineering and Design UTC has revealed interior designs and a fly-through film of its new, multi-million pound campus.

David Terry, college principal, presented the latest architectural illustrations to be released, depicting the high-tech, creative learning environment of the school’s interior of the UTC campus in Crewe town centre, as well as an update on the works completed to date.

Construction at the site on West Street has so far comprised extensive refurbishment of the Oakley Building, which is opening for the first cohort in September.

Demolition of the other existing buildings, beginning in June, will create space for a new building.

Neil Fowler, chairman of the shadow board of governors, said: “The new school aims to add unprecedented value to the community by generating employees for local industry, and by bringing a wealth of business and industry opportunities to the Crewe area through its relationships with leading brands.

“The UTC will also have a positive impact to the immediate community, and its buildings will be used as an environment for evening classes and events.”

Mr Terry added: “As our September opening approaches I’m delighted to share our progress and unveil what’s next for Crewe Engineering & Design UTC to the community.

“Crewe E&D UTC will provide students with an educational experience unlike anything else in the region, and help open up young people to the exciting career opportunities that await from the study of STEM subjects.“

BAM Construction director, Ged Flanagan, said: “We’re delighted to be working on an exciting project that will have such a positive impact on the local area and the UTC’s future students. We’ll create an excellent learning environment for future UTC students.”

On May 24 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm the college will host another open day, at Bentley Motors head office, Pyms Lane, Crewe, for an opportunity for students to discuss their curriculum and options with a staff member, as well as try on and order the new uniforms and find out about the employer partner projects they will work on.
