A MIXED martial arts club put its younger students through their paces during a weekend training camp.

Tiagon M.M.A, based in New Images Youth Centre, took children to the Forest Scout Camp, Kennel Lane, Sandiway, for a three-day fitness camp.

James Dubber, head coach at Tiagon M.M.A, said the training camp was a ‘great success’.

He said: “Our goal was to ensure that the kids kept active outdoors while training and have fun.

“We kept the children off their phones and technology and showed them there's more to life than computers, as 90 per cent of the kids haven't even been camping.

“The program that we put together was not only to challenge the, physically but mentally while have fun.”

The youngsters took part in a number of activities over the three days, including the activities consisted of den building, relay races, log runs, obstacles challenges, hunter gathering games.

Children took part in early-morning exercised and also took part in a midnight walk.

James said: “All the kids took responsible roles in the camp such as log collecting for the fire, keeping the camp tidy, and all represented Tiagon M.M.A fantastically.

“We ran a professional training camp for the local children and have left some great memories for them to look back on.

“Tiagon M.M.A, known as the Tiagon Family, look to forward to progressing as a club and doing great things for local people.”
