STAFF were evacuated from the produce building at Morrisons Distribution Centre at Rudheath yesterday following a fire involving a fork lift truck.
Fire engines from Middlewich and Winsford attended the fire at the King Street premises just after 1pm, and fire crews were on site for almost three hours.
“A fire involving a fork lift truck caused sprinklers to activate at Morrisons Distribution Centre in Rudheath,” said a Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman.
“Staff were evacuated from the produce building, where the fork lift truck had caught fire.
"Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put out the fire and a high pressure fan to clear smoke.
“The fire was caused by an electrical fault on the gas-powered fork lift truck.”
