NORTHWICH people will be delighted at what a new restaurant in Lostock Gralam has to offer.

So says the owner of a restaurant which is due to open this week in premises in Manchester Road which were home to the Vamasaki Indian restaurant.

The closure of Vamasaki was confirmed at the end of October following the issuing of a court order in relation to hygiene issues.

The owner of the new restaurant said: “People will be delighted with what we have to offer, and I hope to have many years of catering for the people of Northwich.

“We have addressed the health concerns which resulted in the closure of the restaurant, and there is a plan in place to maintain high levels of health and hygiene.

“We were told last week we could open, and I am looking forward to the opening.”

He stressed the new restaurant had no affiliation to Vamasaki.

Councillor Mark Henesy, cabinet member for environment and community, said last week: “Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Regulatory Services are liaising with the owners of 469 Manchester Road to advise them on preparing the premises for opening.

“The new owners are undertaking a full refurbishment of the premises, and at present no food hygiene inspection has taken place at the premises due to the lack of a full-working kitchen.

“Once the building work is complete and the premises is open to the public, Regulatory Services officers will conduct a full inspection and award the business with a food hygiene rating they can display for their customers.”

He said Chester Magistrates’ Court confirmed the closure of the Vamasaki restaurant, issuing a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order on October 30.

He said: “Officers from Regulatory Services presented evidence of the imminent health risk condition associated with the premises due to an active, extensive and long-standing mouse infestation, poor standards of cleanliness and lack of an effective food safety management system.

“Cheshire West and Chester Council takes its duty to protect the safety and wellbeing of its residents seriously.”
