AN INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed artist and a Winsford musician are set to appear at a Northwich club.

Sarah McQuaid will perform at Northwich Folk Club's guest night on Friday, November 13, supported by Winsford woman Sam Lyon.

The pair will play at the Harlequin Theatre, in Queen Street.

Sarah’s voice has been likened to malt whiskey, melted chocolate and honey poured into wine.

Her new album Walking Into White is described as her most honest and adventurous work to date, with a depth and texture of soundscape that are reflected in her beautifully crafted live shows.

A captivating performer, she seduces her audience with cheeky banter and stories from the road, as well as with stunning musicianship – in her hands, the guitar becomes much more than merely an accompanying instrument.

Born in Spain, raised in Chicago and now living in rural England, Sarah refuses to be pigeonholed, segueing easily from one of her emotive originals into a 1930s Cuban jazz number, a 16th century lute piece or an unexpected contemporary cover.

Like its predecessors, her fourth solo CD has drawn international critical acclaim.

The support act will be Sam Lyon from Winsford and your host for the night will be Iain Bowley.

Sam has been performing regularly for more than six years, playing shows all around the country, and gigging as far as France.

Her debut EP, ‘Promise Me’, was released in March 2014 and has gone on to sell over 500 copies at gigs alone, and has been streamed more than 2,000 times.

In July and August 2015, Sam went on her first UK tour with Swedish artist, Hildur Hoglind.

Doors open at 8pm for an 8.30pm start on November 13.

Tickets are priced at £7 or £6 for members and can either bought through the DAN website danarts.co.uk , by telephoning Brenda Yates on 01565 733197or on the door.

Northwich Folk Club are also promoting Sarah McQuaid’s 'Introduction to DADGAD' course on Saturday morning at 10.30am at the Polish Club, 107 London Road, Northwich.

DADGAD is the name for a special tuning for the guitar which widens its range of expression.

The price will be £12 for a 90 minute workshop with a maximum of 15 participants.

Anyone interested should contact Iain Bowley on iainbowley@googlemail.com or 07521 611922 to make a provisional booking.
