CREWE Community Fire Station will open its doors to the public on Saturday for a free open day.

The event takes place at the fire station on Crewe Road on Saturday, September 26 from 11am to 4pm.

Attendees will get to see the work firefighters do first hand, with crews set to re-enact a rescue following a road traffic collision.

The ever popular chip pan fire demonstration will also used to highlight the dangers around using chip pans.

And for the children there will be activities to keep them entertained, including a smoke tent and the Firefighter’s Charity stall.

Steve Parker, organiser and firefighter, said: "We're really looking forward to showing residents around the fire station and highlighting how their community fire station works hard to keep them safe.

"This is a free event and there will be something for everyone so please come along and say hello."

The popular character Iron Man will also be there and there's a chance to win some prizes in the raffle. Refreshments will also be available to buy.
