MISS Cheshire lent some moral support to a wheelchair bound teen that is travelling 162 miles for charity.

Calum Mayes, 17, who is in a wheelchair because of the genetic problem set off from Leicester to Blackpool on Saturday.

Calum, from Leicester, has been reliant on charities his whole life, and is taking on the gruelling 8-day journey so he can give something back to them.

Natasha Hemmings, 19, from Weston, near Crewe, walked with Calum while he passes through Cheshire on Wednesday.

Natasha said: “Calum is a remarkable person and an inspiration to everyone, it is a privilege to walk with him.

“When I heard that such a young person wanted to raise money for charity and ‘to give something back’, as he has always received charity to help with his difficult medical condition, I knew I had to help.

“You can see that the money we all give to charity is being used in a positive way and you can see that when you look and talk to Calum.”

Natasha was crowned Miss Cheshire on, June 7, at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Chester.

She will now compete with 60 other girls from around the country to in the Miss England Finals, which takes place in August.

Since being crowned she has been busy promoting her chosen charity, Beauty With a Purpose (BWP), and jumped at the chance to help Calum with his epic journey.

Natasha said: “The Miss Cheshire title is focused around getting involved in what is going on in the County and to raise awareness on important issues.

“He was walking through my home county so there was no question in my mind as to getting involved.

“For Calum it is a long way, and it will be a hard, long walk so he will need all the support he can get.

“He is such a happy, lovely and brave person that I felt inspired to join him.”
