Great Budworth & District WI members had a lot to celebrate at their July meeting which was held in the beautiful cottage garden of village member, Sue Ormson.

On a warm, sunny evening they strolled around the lawns, enjoying the colourful borders, fruit bushes and the view towards Budworth Mere.

They also admired the craft exhibits of artwork, photography and quilting, created by Hazel Torrance, Elizabeth Bentham, June Wilkinson, Mib Byram and Kate Haspell, who had all won awards and commendations at the Cheshire Show.

Musical entertainment was provided by Knutsford singer, Cat Allen who sang popular tunes from the seventies and the shows, and encouraged members to join in, before they tucked into refreshments of strawberries and cream.

Future events include a visit to the Stones and Roses Garden in Chorley, a taster bowls evening on August 12 and a handbell recital on September 16 to celebrate both the centenary of the National Federation of Women's Institutes, and the 95th year of the Cheshire Federation.
