A MYRIAD of pictures from the brushes and pencils of St Luke's Hospice day patients have gone on public display.

A selection of work created over the past few years is being exhibited in Winsford Library this month and a range of art spanning a whole host of subjects is on show.

Artist Pat Darlington, who guides the day patients in with their work, said: "It is really for the patients' pleasure.

"I think they get a great deal of joy from it as it helps them forget their illness and how poorly they feel and lets them start to look out towards the world.

"They choose a whole range of subjects. Sometimes they bring in photographs or take inspiration from a collection of books we have here.

"We've had all sorts of things depicted, ranging from football stadiums to holiday scenes. Sometimes it's simply painting from memory.

"There is some wonderful work on display and I'm very proud of what has been achieved."

Proud Wendy, fundraising manager at the hospice, said: "Our patients are so proud of their work and many of them had never picked up a paint brush before coming to the hospice, so to have them on display is very special for everyone."

The exhibition is on display until the end of April when the pictures will be returned to the patients.

Wendy added: "Obviously patients do not want to sell their creations but we are able to create prints for anyone who would wish to purchase their favourite."
