COULD Marbury Park be the new home for the American Mink?

Janette Renshaw was surprised to spot a Mink swimming around Marbury Park, so she captured the moment with her camera.

It appears that this little Mink wasn’t camera shy, happily posing for a few shots before wading back into the water.

However, many view them as a ruthless predator, feeding on anything that they can catch.

American Mink were brought over to Britain for fur farming in the 1920’s.

Many escaped and bred in the wild, so it’s not uncommon nowadays to see them across the country.

But could Mink be a new addition to the Northwich community?

Janette said: ‘I haven’t seen one before at Marbury but I have seen one or two in the brook that runs along the bottom of my garden.

‘My personal opinion is that they're like any other animal trying to survive in the wild and I thought he or she was quite lovely to look at.’
