MEMBERS of the Middlewich Clean Team and Cheshire East Council staff mucked in together in a clean-up operation at a Middlewich car park which had become a local eyesore.

The Middlewich Town Bridge car park was in need of a real spring clean and so residents from the town’s Middlewich Clean Team and the Council’s Ansa Environmental Services staff joined forces to make light work of the task.

The group removed and cut back bushes, planted new shrubs in the flower beds, laid bark to keep the area free of weed and put back displaced coping stones.

A big mechanical sweep was also carried out over the car park and surrounding area which removed all of the litter and debris.

Janet Chisholm, Middlewich Clean Team chairperson, said: “We are so pleased to see this work done and we are really grateful. The ANSA team have done a great job and as a local resident seeing how lovely it looks now, has made my day.”

“We have more than 200 members in our team and we are thoroughly committed to making a difference to Middlewich.

Steph Cordon, Cheshire East Council’s head of communities, said: “It’s great to see these partnerships working together in this way, achieving improvements for the benefit of local communities with local residents working alongside our staff.

“We know that the Middlewich Clean Team is incredibly active and we are pleased that we can help them to improve an area and help them in their efforts to make Middlewich litter free.”
