TRAFFIC refused to stop for an air ambulance when it tried to land in Middlewich.
The air ambulance was sent to attend to a man in his 40’s whose injuries are unknown, on Webbs Lane Thursday, February 26.
The helicopter attempted to land on the busy A54 road nearby to Webbs Lane, despite the police not attending the incident, but traffic on the road would not stop.
The helicopter flew the man to Leighton Hospital after eventually landing on a nearby play area but a witness says the pilot tried to land three times on the road.
Amanda Keegan said: “I watched from my window as the air ambulance tried to land on the main road three times unsuccessfully as the cars travelling on this route would not stop.
"The pilot looking for somewhere safe to land skilfully manoeuvred across the waters of the canal and landed safely in a very small park.
“I would just like to add the importance of stopping for all emergency vehicles. Obviously the air ambulance has no flashing lights or sirens.”
