VILLAGERS are being invited to get snapping for a new photography competition.

The contest is being organised by Wincham Parish Council, and is aimed at celebrating the village.

The competition is to be held every three months to reflect the changing seasons, and the aim is to use a photograph taken by a local resident for the cover of the Wincham Word newsletter.

“Wincham is a beautiful village with a long history, recorded in the Domesday book,” said parish councillor Ian Parr.

“We have a diversity of wildlife and scenery which we are encouraging people to stop and take a closer look at.”

The photographs submitted by residents may be compiled into a calendar.

Springtime is the theme of a competition for which the deadline for entries is April 1, and the deadline for the ‘Waterside’ competition is July 1.

October 1 is the deadline for the ‘Autumn Colour’ challenge, and entries for the ‘Winter Trees’ competition must be submitted by January 1, 2016.

Entries should be sent to Ian, either as email jpegs to ianparr@btopenworld.com, or as a 6x4 photograph to 19 Kingfisher Grove, Wincham.

Entries which include pictures of children must have written permission from parent or guardian for the unnamed image to be published.

As the photographs are intended for publication, it is a condition of entry that Wincham Parish Council may use the image.
