A NORTHWICH woman who last week became the biggest winning female punter in a betting shop has added a further £278,288 to her life-changing haul.

Ironing maiden Aggie Haddock, of Danefields, jumped for joy on Saturday when her free pick Taranis triumphed in the 3.15pm at Sandown Park to land the Scoop6 Bonus Fund of £278,288 making her £688,620 richer in total.

It has been a momentous week for the 50-year-old, who runs the Ironing Board in Castle, who struck gold after shelling out on just a £2 bet at her Northwich branch of Betfred on January 27.

On Friday, Aggie, husband Colin and sister Betty were whisked to Sandown in a limousine and put up in the Hilton courtesy of Betfred, and she spent Saturday morning talking to the television cameras about her incredible experience and meeting the racing fraternity - including the likes of John McCririck.

"It was just unbelievable, it didn't really sink in," she said.

But when the time came to lay her free bonus fund bet she relied on her usual method of picking names that mean something to her - selecting horse number 13 because she was born on December 13.

As Ruby Walsh rode the 9/4 favourite towards the finishing line, the cameras caught Aggie's excited outburst as she cheered the steed on.

Yesterday, Tuesday she told the Guardian: "It started right at the back and I just thought it wasn't going to win and then from nowhere it just came up the front. I just went into shock, I really couldn't believe it and started screaming.

"I went round to meet Ruby Walsh after the race and I gave that jockey a big kiss."

Although Aggie is still considering how to spend the money, she's delighted staff at Betfred, in Weaver Way, have received a £5,000 bonus to share.

She said: "I'm going to have a big think about what to do with all my winnings but I may buy a van for my business and definitely take a holiday.

"I'm really pleased the staff will get something too. The shop celebrated its first birthday last week so it's great they got a bit of my luck."
