President Kath Dunn welcomed members to the November meeting of Comberbach WI which also included the Annual Meeting and a quiz on musicals, films and shows.
The past year has seen members undertaking a range of both entertaining and educational activities. Some of the highlights included a trip to the National Memorial Arboretum and Lincoln Cathedral, the Victoria Baths in Manchester, and at the height of the summer the Cheshire Show, where members both exhibited and supported the organisation of the event. Kath thanked the committee for their work and support in providing these and all of the other activities.
At the Vale Royal Group Meeting the Craft Group exhibited a beautiful lavender cushion themed on “The Olympics” and won a shared trophy with Hartford WI, for their efforts. It was good to see Comberbach WI represented again on the trophy.
As the Christmas season approaches, members are looking forward to supporting the Comberbach Village Craft Fair with a cake and chocolate stall. The Fair will be on November 15.
The choir is preparing for the next meeting on December 1, at 7.30 pm when they will be singing, and there will also be hand bell ringing. The speaker will be the very popular raconteur, Jean Finney, who will provide a cornucopia of entertaining monologues and songs. The evening will conclude with mulled wine and mince pies.
The meetings are held at Comberbach Village Hall, visitors and new members are always welcome.
