STUDENTS and schoolchildren from across Hartford are getting the chance to sample cycle life in a series of events to brighten up Mondays.

Conference bikes, try out areas, BMX displays and a pedal power disco are among the two-wheeled attractions at three Try Cycle bike festivals being held to inspire more people to take up cycling.

The festivals are being held at Mid Cheshire College and are organised by Sustrans in conjunction with the college and Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC).

Visitors to the festivals have also been able to have a go on a mountain bike pump track and a watt challenge, see a bicycle museum, get advice from Dr Bike, have their bike security marked, chat to cycling clubs and learn about Breeze bike rides for women and the work of Active Cheshire.

The events are part of a Sustrans and CWAC project to encourage students, pupils and staff around Hartford to cycle and walk more often and help cut down traffic in the congested village.

The final festival takes place on Monday.
